The South West Middlesex Crematorium in Hanworth, Middlesex, is one of the very best in the UK – and that’s official. The South West Middlesex Crematorium is among a record-breaking 1,582 parks and green spaces that will receive a prestigious Green Flag Award – the mark of a quality park or green space. The award recognizes and rewards the best parks and green spaces across the country. A Green Flag flying overhead is a sign to the public that the space boasts the highest possible standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent facilities. The South West Middlesex Crematorium is the only crematorium sited in The London Borough of Hounslow. It was opened in 1954 by an Act of Parliament and is overseen by a Board representative of 5 councils, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Ealing, Richmond and Spelthorne Council. It is set within 11 acres of both formal and informal gardens of remembrance, which are open to the public 365 days of the year. An Open Day is held every year on the second Saturday of June which offers all visitors an insight into how the crematorium is managed. As well as tours of the building and crematory, we also offer tours of the award-winning gardens, with particular emphasis on the Crematorium’s environmental policies and high level of horticultural practices.
