Some families choose to make a donation to the Crematorium, instead of leaving floral tributes or having a memorial. This money is retained in a fund that is used to add enhancements to the grounds and chapels. In the past a stone urn feature was originally installed in the Memorial Rose Garden as well as a new Summer House from the memorial fund.
If you would like to make a specific donation to fund an individual item, please contact the Crematorium Manager to discuss the possibilities that may exist. In the past garden buildings, stained glass windows and other chapel fixtures have been provided in this way.
To make a donation to the Memorial Fund, please contact the Crematorium Office or if you prefer to be anonymous it can be placed in the COMMENTS box in the Remembrance Hall.
Periodically appeals are made to support a specific activity. Previously we have invited families to support various appeals e.g. The woodland bulb planting schemes, the meadow and Jamieson borders. All donations were used to fund these schemes, and dedications of loved ones were displayed in a panel in the Memorial Hall. Any other future schemes will be launched and details will be available both on this website and on notices throughout the crematorium.
The Books of Remembrance and ‘Arboria’ Plaque panels are displayed within the Haigh Chapel of Remembrance and is open 365 days of the year to display all dedications that have been entered on the current date. This is a permanent memorial retained in perpetuity.
Next to the Book of Remembrance there is a touch screen computer kiosk which can be used to view any entry for any date. This offers greater flexibility to anyone who is unable to attend on the day that their dedication is displayed.
A Children’s Book of Remembrance is also now situated within the Haigh Chapel of Remembrance.
Vases and display stands are provided outside the Haigh Capel of Remembrance for visitors to leave flowers and cards in memory of their loved one/s.
Visitors are invited to hang Christmas Wreaths on the trellis that are specially erected over the Christmas and New Year period, metal hooks are provided for all wreaths brought to the crematorium.
During the Christmas and New Year period we erect a Christmas Tree within the Main Reception Area, on which families can hang messages to their loved ones. Message cards are provided and visitors are invited to make a donation to the Crematorium adopted charity. Further Christmas Trees are provided within the Haigh Chapel of Remembrance and Pavilion buildings.
Our annual Open Day will be held within the month of June, to which there will be further details to this on our website under News and Events nearer to the time. Everyone is encouraged to come along and look around the Crematorium and Grounds. We offer tours of the crematory (no cremations are carried out on the day) to help dispel all the myths that surround the cremation process.
Our annual Community Memorial Service will be held within the month of December in the Ogden Chapel, once again, further details can be found on our website within News and Events nearer to the time.
Notices and notice boards are also positioned throughout the crematorium with the relevant information.
